I WISH THERE WERE SOMETHING I COULD DO

In the past I could always go on the air with some marathon broadcast and raise money. Give information on how to actually help out. I got to admit I feel a little helpless on what I can do. I mean yeah I will give a check to the red cross but there has got to be more. This is the first time I feel bad about not being on the radio....

Way to go Sticking up for the fans disturbed I have been complaining about the security at the warehouse since day 1 you cant go to a rock copncert and just stand there i have been to tons of other concerts and NOWHERE are they as big of pricks as they are there and disturbed stood up and did something about it he got sick of seing people get escorted out so he stopped the security guards and told them to leave everyone alone (and i was in the front ro cheering him on) by the last 2 songs the crowd was doing what they wanted how they wanted a couple security guards took there red shirts off and joined in the mosh even. If having concerts at that shithole means not having fun then FUCK THE WAREHOUSE FUCK QLZ AND FUCK THERE SECURITY

All i have to say is way to go disturbed you just got your self a new fanclub member for life at 29.95 a year OH and at the next concert i will be the tall skinny guy with the t-Shirt saying something along the lines of "Warehouse security sucks cock" Its time for the fans to stand up and say we are not going to take your bullshit anymore to that place if they are going to have concerts it will be on OUR terms, we bring in the money because i didnt pay nearly $30 to stand there and someone with a voice finally said something about it Disturbed may never be invited back but they made there point. Ray wish you were still here you may have been the death blow to that station But hey good luck and i know youll make it big just make sure you go somewhere with a big market that will let you do what you want and make it famous.

Dont get me wrong. It is not my job to defend my former employer but I read the last post and I wanted to bring some clarity to the comments.

I am sure it was cool of DISTURBED to tell security to stop but it was probably their fault.
You see the contracts that these bands send to the promoter which in this case is the radio station talks about the safety of the band and not letting things get out of hand. A lot of them also define out of hand as crowd surfing and moshing. They can look like a hero telling security to stop but a lot of times it is their contract that caused the security in the first place. Secondly you got to go easy on these guys. These security guards know the weight of the situation. If just one kid gets seriously injured or god forbid killed in any kind of accident whether it be falling head first on the floor or breaking their neck or squashed or something then thats it, NO MORE CONCERTS. With lawsuits there might be no more radio station. You have got to understand there is not a concerted effort to stop people from having fun there is simply a concerted effort to keep on keeping on. You all know how the city has scrutinized this project from the beginning. Well if you cant figure it out they would love to close the place down. Any accident can lead the warehouse closing. You dont want that to happen.
Last but not least the majority of these security guys care about one thing. YOUR SAFETY. seriously they are underpaid, if paid at all, they work their ass off and get no recognition unless it is negative. They have it rough. They have only only a couple of rules and they are preached to them over and over again. Keep everyone safe and keep the concerts going on.

I dont know what happened at the DISTURBED concert. I wish I could have gone but could not. I can tell you from past experience though it sounds like it is getting blown out of proportion.

Thanks

Here is what happened from someone who was there, and maintained sobriety the entire night...In other words, I did not drink last night.

At the end of a song (don't remember which one) David Draiman noticed three security guards escorting a fan out the door. Mr. Draiman told the security guards to stop. He was ignored and asked again. He was again ignored and stated that if they did not stop there would not be a "fucking show to continue because we will walk off this stage..." He asked why the fan was being escorted out. Information was exchanged and he talked about that the fans come here to party and to let them party (best summary of those comments I can remember).

At the end of the next song or two, he stated that he has watched three or four more of his fans escorted out the door. In explicit words (YES!) that I can not remember and do not feel like trying to quote, he told security (looking at each one on each side of the stage) that, unless they see a weapon or a woman about to get raped, to leave the "fucking fans alone and let them have their fun!" or the event staff would "have a riot on their hands when" disturbed "walked off the fucking stage and ended the show". He then look at each side and said "do we have a goddamn understanding".

After that, the crowd pretty much went wild and had a good time. I will also point out that I was in the middle of the crowd and they seemed to behave pretty well. I left right after "Stupify", so I don't know what happened after the show while the crowd was leaving. BUT, I was pretty impressed with security. I hope these concerts can continue. THis was my first time at the warehouse.

I did meet some of the pleasant folks on Bonnie Court when I tried to park there. I, being the polite one, realized that where I was currently parked would have caused me to block a driveway. As I was getting ready to leave, the neighborhood porch monkeys hollered at me that I was not parking my goddamn car there. After exchanging a few words (including reminding them that I can park on a public street), I left the neighborhood. I noticed a security guard and asked what the deal was, to which he (very politely I might add) filled me in on the "bonnie Court Politics). I ended up finding a real sweet spot right in front of the warehouse.

While in the concert, I did notice how loud it was and that got me to wondering Ray, have they done a noise "study" to determine the noise level outside?

I wish they still held the shows out at the fairgrounds. The warehouse blows. It's way to damn hot and the overall sound from the preformers is just awful in that building.

The warehouse is NOT a good place for concerts. it would be good for some acoustic sets or what the other midwest Broadcasting stations might bring here but not the music that is brought here by QLZ. The best concerts QLZ has had have been at bigger locations(Namely Mudvayne, V-Shaped Mind). the Security was always awesome at the other venues most people rate a rock concert by how intense it was and QLZ did a good job of that before the warehouse (drowning Pool i went to and it was a good show but it was lame) i have been to just about all of the QLZ concerts most of the time being one of the first people to get tickets but now i could care less if i see a concert i would usually request the day off work and now i just base going on if im off or not. I usually am right up there within the first five rows at other concerts but find myself standing at the back for the qlz concerts If you are throwing rock concerts you have to give leeway to this stuff and expect it not pick a place that is going to have these restrictions
I love going to concerts, music is my passion and i have been up and down this state seeing concerts all year and nowhere is it like this.
At first i thought that the neighborhood was overreacting about it (and maybe they are in some instances) but after going to a couple concerts and driving by there during concerts i didnt go to i side with them 100% it is a bad location and venue for ROCK concerts i think its perfect for everything else they have because i have gone to other events but not the QLZ portion of it.

and i apoligize to the security i know they are just doing what there told(a few of them are still pricks though) and most of the time they do do an excellent job and I find myself applauded them during concerts sometimes. i guess this shouldnt be going towards them but to the people above them.
So i will say i am wrong by mentioning them(still get rid of the mall security type guards they have) its just management and location, location, location

im sure there are plenty of lots sitting empty in and around the springfield area that would have less neighborhood community areas around it, is more excessible and would have better sound quality

oh and i just have to ask why did the QLZ websight just stopped getting updated they add this podcasting and song store but they cant even update a simple concert section(to name one thing) and some of the menues were closed down over a year ago yet there still accessible

anyways i'll try not to bother you with stupid QLZ shit anymore and i'll start posting according to your comments and im interested in seeing how you do after this town

and i just looked at the pictures of your daugter - she looks just like you but a little smaller - poor thing
no she is very cute and you better be enjoying her company in the mornings god knows we are all enjoying "The Freak Show"

as always good luck

As accordance with the original post

i feel sad everytime i see the images of new orleans on tv and the comments Kanye West made were totally out of line trying to turn this into a race thing if anyone is a racist its him for trying to take the focus off the real victems of this catastrophe just hearing what people were saying about the murders and rapes just inside the superdome is enough to get your heart stopped

i think the best image ive seen of this was the looter carrying a hand full of stuff he stole and getting takin down by an alligator under the water

and Bush did a great job during 9/11 and hes doing a good job now but where was he when his administration took the funding from those flood gates even though they knew storms along that coast were going to get worse even into 2006
