NEW ORLEANS.. HOW F'D UP

Can you imagine? You get on the road in your car to escape the hurricane. You think you are home free and then...the road breaks apart. No sandbag is gonna keep that water from destroying your home.
This is a fine idea until you have to piss. Try balancing yourself on that styrofoam buddy. Better to just risk the rash and warm the pants.

This is why I have vowed to lose weight if I move to an area in any kind of potential flooding area. I want to make sure that the helicopter can lift my fat ass off of my house just in case.

Seriously though. This is a horrible tragedy. These people who were just trying to live their lives are now dying by the hundreds simply because of a really bad storm. Why in the fuck did the people running this city not realize that this could happen? It is shaped like a bowl for Gods sake. it has no flood wall. The saddest part is the people who cant afford to live north of the city (the nice part) are the ones who couldnt get out and are dying. Very Sad. I did read that the president flew over the damage in Air Force One. He probably dumped the remnants of the Jets toilet over the damage. C'mon Mr President get your ass down there and visit with some of these people. While your at it release some of the oil reserves so the rest of the country isnt paying over 4 bucks a gallon this weekend.

I like the pres okay...but, yesterday he gave a speech about IRAQ. Fucking IRAQ. Dude you got one of your 35 biggest cities here in the USA destroyed. Peoples lives ruined. Homes they have saved for and businesses they work at are gone. Get off your ass and get down there. Quit talking about the fucking middle east of the world and worry about the mid south of your own country.

There's no money for Bush in worrying about New Orleans. Haliburton takes priority.

Hey Ray. It is stuff like this that makes us really miss you in the morning. I know you want to move onto bigger and better but we really need someone who speaks the truth. I miss you and I know all the guys and gals around the office miss you too.
Keep up the website even after you decide to get off your ass and get a job.

Speaking logistically, he can't step foot down there right now. With a city like that under martial law and local police officers trying to rescue people, others find their way to looting. Its those people who will rot in hell because they can't seem to keep their hands off the jewels. Steal food, fine...but not 15 pairs of Air Jordan's.
So, the question is: why isn't the President down there assisting? Well, when there are armed men down there, specifically two armed men with AK-47s shooting up a police station, he can't go down there. Remember the two perimeters set up downtown when he came for the Museum? Well, you take that times two, you take away authorities from helping the stranded, maximize security for one person and then you have people criticizing the President for hindering the relief.

So, like I said, he can't go down there yet. Word is from King Abdullah is that stabilizing oil markets is one the list of relief. Best way to help is to assist with the Red Cross with monetary donations.

Shawn is right that is what I meant. We need to see the president comforting a family. Be our figurehead. Go to Houston and meet with some people in the astrodome who are being housed there. Go to Florida where some people are being kept and hold someones hand. HOLD A FUCKING PRESS CONFERENCE and be presidential . Tell us it is going to be alright and do it in primetime. You cant turn back time and take away the speeches about Iraq yesterday but we need to do something today. I dont think there is anyone that isnt emotionally affected seeing these people and their slowly eroding resolve as they realize their lives are ruined due to no ones fault. Reassure all of us that the gas issue is going to be okay. Let us know we are doing all we can to save these poor people we are seeing on TV. Let us know what we can do.

Heres a question though.. why the hell werent the levees able to handle this? Was it a cost issue. You cant convince me that they werent prepared for this. It seems that someone made a decision that said.. Well we are okay up to a category 3 or 4 hurricane but if a 5 hits then everyone is just fucked. How can they be so irresponsible?

They probably learned that from Camille and adjusted from that. But, its hard to contain a lake like Ponchatrain. I mean, once you're in the middle of that bridge on the lake, you can't see land at all. Therefore, with all the winds on the lake rotating the water back towards New Orleans, you have problems. besides, who builds a town 18ft below sea level?
